Not any more. I am 'Africa'd Out' as I know from personal experience how little, if any, of the 'donation' actually reaches those who need it. Charity, for me, now begins at home rather than supporting the well-intentioned who, indirectly, line the pockets of the corrupt. It is far from a popular view but given that Africa is resource rich and simply needs to put aside tribal divides (I know, far easier to say than do) mobilise to use those resources and it could be richer and more productive than China (who, of course are currently exploiting the very resources that African nations have simply failed to do). |
