Pete, it would be entirely feasible for him to have got 3 shots off in the time it took.He was a sharpshooter so he should have been able to cycle 3 rounds with no trouble. The real problems stem from the recovered ammunition, which was a Cacano 6.5mm full metal jacket. These bullets are made not to fragment on impact so one bullet passed through Kennedy's throat, exited through the chest and straight through the front seat passenger and imbedded itself in the car bodywork, but the recovered bullet was barely damaged. Why ? Why did the second bullet cause catastrophic head wounds to Kennedy ? If it was another 6.5mm cacano, it would have passed straight through. But this shot must have been made with expanding ammunition. It is claimmed a secret service agent following in the second car carrying an AR15 assault rifle in 223/5.56mm calibre actually fired the second shot which destroyed Kennedy's skull.I have compared bullet damage from these calibres and they are exactly the same, although I was using 7.62mm full metal jacket instead of a 6.5mm.I fired it from a Mannlicher rifle, the same as the rifle used, and an AR15 in .223 calibre.I beleive there is still a lot to be learned aboutvthis case |
