In the event this happened I agree they would be unlikely to survive. I also doubt that either party would accept it, more likely a minority government followed by a second election. As to your putative leaders, I don't think Alan would want it though he just might be a popular choice amongst the relevant electorate (which is now a fully democratic poll of Lab party members). As to Boris, my impression is that he is seen as less than the messiah amongst the electorate that would count for him - Tory MPs. Oddly enough (as we're playing here) a Miliband-Cameron partnership might be quite a good one, with Miliband doing the thinking, strategy and management, and Cameron doing the PR. |
