I took 3 cabs on Monday of this week. One from Chiswick to Regents Park.Another from Harley Street to Newman Street, and another back to Chiswick. All of the drivers were courteous, and all addressed me as Sir.The driver of the cab I got back to Chiswick even suggested that to save myself some money I should walk to the end of Newman street as the traffic was at a standstill, and the driver would pick me up on the other side of the road works. It probably only saved about £1but it was much appreciated.I have never had any problems with black cab drivers, apart from the one that did a U turn on Lambeth road in front of me without looking while I was riding my motorbike.I had no chance whatsoever of avoiding him. When the police arrived, the cabbie told them he didn't see me because I was going too fast, and that I had been on the wrong I side of the road ( I wasn't ) Fortunately, a hotel's cctv covering the road/pavement outside the hotel caught the accident which clearly showed the cabbie to be at fault, and he was prosecuted for it. |
