Andy, your post needs to be challenged on a number of points:

"The CPZ was the best thing that happened to this (Park?) Road".

Quite possibly, for the residents who live in Park Road. They (at last 80% of them) have their own private off road parking for 1 or 2 cars, in many cases for more. Now, in addition to having their own private driveways they can also park directly outside their own house (either side) if they can't be bothered to park in the driveway. So yes, I can see how the residents in those two roads are feeling pretty chuffed with themselves. Good for you.

But of course you live in Grove Park, and for many of your neighbours (remember them?) in adjacent roads, it's most certainly NOT the best thing that ever happened. An estimated 250 - 350 cars have now been displaced into their roads. So whilst you gaze out beyond your driveway onto the now empty Park Road, you might just consider the unpleasant chaos that your selfish pleasure has created for your neighbours. Good for you, give yourself a nice pat on the back. Ask the neighbours round for a sherry, why not.

"Before the CPZ it was impossible to go out in the car during the day".

What total utter rot. It's a ridiculous exaggeration of the situation, there were ALWAYS car parking spaces in Park Road. But just like most other roads in GP they might not have been directly outside your own front door (driveway). In any case, no research was ever done into the numbers of cars in Park Road / Staveley Road, so there are no facts. You might have had to walk 50 yards to get a parking space (most people in GP do this without any complaint) but it is not true to say you were prevented from going out, that's just over emotional nonsense like so many of the whinges and claims from the Park Road brigade.

"If I had to go out during the day, I had to get a cab". Oh dear, poor old you Andy. Our hearts are all bleeding for you.

"Now during the day, there are plenty of spaces".

More than that Andy. Now during the day the road is virtually empty. What you forgot to say is that this is because those 250-350 cars are now all in your neighbours' roads.

"I can understand that people that have no problems are against CPZ".

Total rot again. Everyone in Grove Park suffers the same problems (why not take a cab and drive around Grove Park and just have a look). All roads suffer from over parking. Everyone else just accepts it as part of living in this beautiful leafy part of London, and they put up with it. Even if it means walking 50 yards from car to home on occasions, or even (god forbid) parking in the next road (if there are no cabs available to drive you home from you your car, of course).

This fallacy that only the poor souls in Park Road were suffering from over parking whilst everyone else was living in car-free roads is just such a load of nonsense. The fact is that everyone in Grove Park has these problems. The difference is that everyone else is prepared to put up with it, and it was only because a small group of Park Road residents had personal and influential access to the Single Member in charge of LBH traffic who was able to get a CPZ into their road despite the overwhelming wishes of all other Grove Park residents. That's the truth of the matter.

Andy, I will remind you and others once again that the doorstep petition in 2011 showed clearly that 93.6% of all residents in Grove Park were firmly against any CPZ in Grove Park, despite the parking problems everyone has. And I will continue to remind you of this every time someone tries to justify the two-road CPZ.

"If you ask the people now living in an overspill area if they would like CPZ most would jump at the chance".

Ahh, how lovely to come up with a nice word like "overspill". Makes it all sound so gentle doesn't it? It's not "overspill", like a bath gently overflowing. it's "displacement" where the immediate effect of your CPZ shunted 250-350 cars into your neighbours' roads. Overnight.

So these people haven't simply changed their minds and seen the light. They didn't want CPZ, many of them still don't want CPZ, but now they have been forced into accepting it, even asking for it, because the parking situation in their roads has suddenly gone from "stressed" to "unbearable".

They, and 93.6% of all their neighbours would have preferred to carry on without any CPZ, but the selfish actions of a few residents in Park Road have changed the game and given them no choice.

So stop painting it all like it's just natural progress and we will all be pleased with the effects in the end.

I wish you and others would at least have the decency to be honest about what's happened. Which is that a small group of people in one or two roads were lucky enough to have access to the right political decision maker who was able to overrule the entire democratic process in order to give his friends and family what they selfishly wanted. And bugger everyone else.
