|Whether or not you'll need PP (assuming you're only proposing a rear roof extension not facing a highway) firstly depends upon the volume of your existing roof extension, as for a terraced house the roof can be extended by up to 40 cubic metres under permitted development rights. |
Secondly the new extension would need to be set in from the edge of the roof by 20 centimetres.
I'd advise reading the technical guidance note for Class B extensions on the planning portal website, I would include the link but currently sunning myself in the Algarve and can't remember how to paste a link...
