It isn't a virus, it is a security vulnerability. The same vulnerability exists in operating systems based upon variants of Unix or Linux. That includes Mac OSX, about half of the websites in the world and Android phones. The vulnerability has been around since the late 1980s and has only been uncovered now. Generally speaking Linux/Unix has a very good record for security which is one reason why they are used so extensively. |
