Depends on their personal circumstances of course. If your house is worth £2.1m you might get a bill for £1k or £2k. Labour say there will be tax breaks for those on low incomes,but no details yet. They're not going to want to be seen to forcing grannies out of their homes, however palatial. But frankly if you cant find £20 a week ( £1k) then you probably cant afford the upkeep of a £2m home. And you have recourse to borrow ( as many people already do) or sell and realise all that equity tax free ! |
