I could be that a decision has been taken too hastily. I can just imagine some young contractor turning up and thinking that will be a nice bit of work for me next week i will suggest they need felling. I have no idea how these decisions are made but to see a tree destroyed that is older than any of us would be a shame and would be nice if local residents were given more insight. From the large branches that have been cut down and the tree stump from the tree that has been cut they look fairly healthy to me, although im no expert.
