It is illegal for you to install the spur to which the cooker is connected (unless you have it inspected and tested). Anyone can hardwire the cooker into that connection. The NICEIC Part P factsheet (http://www.niceic.com/Uploads/File1247.pdf) confirms. Incidentally it is perfectly legal for you to do any electrical work yourself PROVIDED that you have it inspected and tested by Building Control or a qualified electrician BEFORE and AFTER you do the work (before so that they can check whet you are going to do). I speak from experience having rewired my kitchen myself and had it inspected by Hounslow Building Control. |
