No David, the resounding answer is PEOPLE make judgement calls, as you yourself said you did when you decided wether or not to obey speed limits in your car. Drive along at the speed limit and you will find almost every car overtakes you or is right on your rear - why, because they think it's OK to do 'a bit over'. They don't see the point of the speed limit and they think they can get away with it - and they do. So the same applies when THE SAME PEOPLE get on a bike, they don't see the point of the sign, and they think they can get away with it and they do. I can't see why this isn't blindingly obvious, and you can't see why I can't see the difference. I'm not accusing you of defending motorists, but you didn't post 'why don't motorists obey the rules', or even more sensibly 'why don't people obey the rules'. You singled out cyclists as if they are some kind of other type of people, not like you. And it's that attitude that bugs people who regularly get on a bike. And yes, people get nicked for cycling where they shouldn't. |
