Yes. Whatever the outcome I think Salmond has a lot to answer for, it's stirred up an awful lot of nastiness, and whether ruling out a formal currency union was a bargaining ploy or not, it would now appear that whichever party did offer that during any independence negotiations would be committing electoral suicide, so it won't happen anyway. So what will they do then? Salmond's entire case has been that the rUK is bluffing on that point and it's the most "sensible" option. Most sensible for Scotland, definitely, the RUK wouldn't get anything substantive out of it. |
