Reminds me of the Bader quote: “Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men.” If I’m cycling along these stretches when they’re deserted, I’d stay on my bike and cycle at a safe speed. If there are a few people I’d slow down and make sure that I don’t obstruct anybody in any way (pinchpoints etc). If there are too many people for this to be feasible then I’d get off and walk with the bike. If a cyclist is cycling where they aren’t technically supposed to but are doing no harm, why get angry on principle? With a little common sense, we can all exist together. Obviously, if they are acting recklessly and obstructing people then by all means have a go.... |
