I was just returning to work having walked my dog on Turnham Green when a brindle Lab X type guide dog bared its teeth and lunged at my dog. I was able to stand in between the dogs to prevent contact until the owner managed to get control. I am quite shaken as it was totally unprovoked and the other dog was more than just warning. Luckily, it did not pull the owner toward the road. I think that it is called "Rene". The man is Caucasian with dark hair and was wearing a dark brown jacket and trousers. The dog had a flourescent and white harness on with a small blue Guide Dog logo. Please be careful if you see them. This is now the third incident that I have had with a guide dog. With the previous two incidents, one dog launched across Hammersmith Broadway and nearly pulled its owner over trying to get to my dog and the other came from behind us on Earls Court station platform and, had the tube not been there enabling the owner to steady himself, would have pulled him onto the tracks. Luckily I heard the dog bark and turned round. Has Guide Dogs changed their breeding programme or are they sending dogs out with less training? |
