I see that for reasons of efficiency (not mine!) Royal Mail say that from 15th September the latest posting time from my local letter box will be "not before 9 am", (earlier on Saturdays) so unless I prepare my letter the night or day before, 1st class mail has been transformed at a stroke from a (hopefully) one day service to a (hopefully) two day service. And the cost of sending one 1st class letter (formerly the old penny post) is now thirteen shillings.  Must look into this interweb thing.
