I think this cash thing is generational. Like some on here I don't think of paying with a card for anything less than, say £15 but my daughter thinks this is extremely odd - why mess with cash when you have a card to pay for stuff? I'm of a generation where cheques used to be the thing and IMO a right royal pain in the posterior so I'm delighted that they have been consigned largely to history (though not, oddly enough, in the USA where the financial sector is very conservative as I found out a few years ago when trying to find an ATM in New York) As to Chris's, I went once when new to Chiswick when people were praising the previous regime to the hilt and thought it was very poor. I then went once after the change of ownership and it had gone a long way further downhill, so I've never been tempted to darken its doors again. Catch is a different matter entirely: good, freshly cooked food and friendly, attentive service. The way Greg was treated is just lousy customer service, for which there is no excuse. |
