Scots jihadist Aqsa Mahmood may be a senior member of an all-women Isis police force in Syria, experts believe. Academics believe British women, including former private schoolgirl from Glasgow Ms Mahmood, have been given key roles in the Al-Khanssaa Brigade. The extremist police force, an arm of Isis, punishes females for behaviour they think goes against the beliefs of the Islamic State. A key figure in al-Khanssaa is Ms Mahmood, according to researchers at the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation (ICSR) Al-Khanssaa patrols the streets of Raqqa in Syria in an effort to eradicate and punish anyone engaging in Western culture. A spokeswoman for ICSR, said: "Al-Khanssaa is a sharia law police brigade. This is Isis's female law enforcement. "We think it's a mixture of British and French women but its social media accounts are run by the British and they are written in English. "It is quite likely these women move in the same circles as the British killer of Foley and Sotloff. "The British women are some of the most zealous in imposing the Isis laws. "I believe that's why at least four of them, one being Umm Layth, or Aqsa Mahmood, have been chosen to join the women police force. "In the last week I have encountered two dozen Twitter accounts of women wanting to get across the border into Syria from Turkey. http://news.stv.tv/west-central/291248-aqsa-mahmood-may-be-member-of-isis-all-woman-police-force-in-syria/ |
