I went to the info point and they were very reassuring. The bridge will be dismantled and replaced in two halves (bisecting north-south) with extra land being taken at the side to allow a continuance of two lanes in each direction on the other half. The lanes will be narrower and the speed limit will probably be reduced to 30 but then you're often slower than that on the NC anyway.
Until May, all the work will concentrate on moving the utilities from the existing bridge to a little bridge of their own where they will be easily accessible in future, so you won't notice anything for the next eight months. |
