| "people like me"? You mean those who say "yep I made a mistake and broke the rules/law so I'll pay the fine?" Those people? The people who know that, yes, they can go to the council and attempt to unearth some empathy and compassion for an honest mistake, when time and time again you've seen other people try and seen that they won't make allowances for an honest mistake and will, in fact, be rude to you in the process so you decide to pay the fine that they have legitimately imposed on you? Those people? The people who don't want to get annoyed at the lack of compassion so don't poke the wasps nest on the off chance someone is in the Hounslow Offices who is having a remarkably good day and is in a happy mood and decides to be nice to a faceless person behind yet another a letter asking to be let off a legitimate fine because they just made a mistake when its the 20th letter that day they've had asking that? Those people? Yep, I guess I'm one of "them". I've never been given a parking ticket when I had parked legally so I've taken it on the chin every time and paid up, within 2 weeks so its half the cost. If I was given a ticket when I was not illegally parked, I would not take it on the chin, I would challenge it. |
