These poor people seem to be caught between the characteristic arrogance of the medical authorities and the unthinking clumsiness of the forces of law and order. Have you ever tried to communicate with the medical profession on a human level? I rang a hospital two weeks ago to obtain some information about a forthcoming appointment. After finding my way through a barrage of 'menus', I eventually received a recording of a brusque voice instructing me to leave my name and number and they would 'get back' to me. I'm still waiting. I hope this unfortunate family and their child have a good outcome of their case, but I wouldn't be too optimistic about it.
