| I've been twice to NHC, many years ago, and don't have the slightest interest in repeating the experience. However, whilst I agree with others that a mere ratio of arrests to attendance numbers doesn't tell you very much and you have to look at the types of crime for which arrests are made at Glastonbury, we still need to maintain a sense of proportion. The Met arrested more than 100 people in a few hours on New Year's Eve for drunkenness, sexual assaults and violence. I'd feel safer at NHC than in the middle of a crowd of drunken white yobs in Trafalgar Square on New Year's Eve. But the whole point of Pete's highlighting the carnival is that it's a black event. Need I say more? |
