I agree Paul. Some people may have made a few nice comments at the exibition, and clearly there are some contributors to this thread who are in favour - particularly those involved in architecture/planning etc. But there are many who are not in favour. According to the Southfield Ward Forum minutes, a local group 'want to raise awareness regarding a planning application to LB of Hounslow for Empire House in Chiswick High Road. LB of Hounslow has to consult with Ealing Council regarding this proposal for up to 150 new dwellings in an eight storey tower. It is proposed to change the use of the building from offices to domestic. This building will be bigger than anything in the surrounding area and goes against LB of Hounslow’s own planning guidelines. There are also other developments nearby, which leads to exceeding the area’s housing quota.' I suspect the developers will have much more of a fight on their hands than the article implies. |
