I do have one question about all the new developments. Many of them come with design drawbacks that are apparently there because of cost issues. How can there be cost issues?. The price of homes and presumably offices (ie the finished product) has been going up by leaps and bounds, while the cost of the raw materials and workers salaries as measured by inflation has crawled up or fallen. I would have thought that there should be an opportunity for delivering very high quality product. I'm sure the price of land has increased a lot, but supposedly in many cases developers are using land they have owned for years. Why are they cutting corners to save a few bob, or adding extra storeys that they say are needed to make any money at all?. |
