Although the agenda is not yet published - I think that it is safe to say that a report on the proposed development will becoming to the Chiswick Area Forum for comment. If any Chiswick Residents wish to speak on this topic at the meeting please contact me as soon as possible. Time as always will be limited. On a personal level I am particularly interested in hearing how residents think the scheme could be improved, and any more radical ideas that people might have. For example, is the 'possible' pedestrianised link to Chiswick Park Station a crucial element in the package, and what environmentally friendly components should a development on this scale include? Much of Brentford Ward south of the A4 is well on it way to becoming a "high rise city". The addition of a 20,000 seater football stadium and the associated 920 housing units in four or five tower blocks and a 160 bed hotel all add to the strong impression that the character of the area is changing before our very eyes. Should Chiswick retain its distinct character and indeed can it do so or are "the dice already loaded" in favour of high density high rise devlopment? |
