It so much depends on your system - how old it is and what else is there. I find that all security suites have a certain hit, but I accept that for the sake of security. Norton IS is a lot better now. It slows boot up a bit and Is then fine. I get irritated waiting for Kaspersky to finish until I get to the desktop, BUT it starts the minute you turn on and protects from rootkits. So it depends on what your priority is. As for macs Apple have had to rush out a few security patches as the baddies are beginning to turn their attention to macs. There is already anti virus for macs.....
