| A plague on both their houses. Genetically they are both nearly identical and they are like brothers who hate each other and no compromise to be had. I feel immensely sorry for the non political Palestinians who are suffering badly because Hamas is using them as pawns in their game. Their plight is desperate and degrading but the solution must come from them, we cannot impose anything on them. To transport fighters in ambulances, hide weapons in and around schools and hospitals and to use the premises for firing rockets and then leave the poor suffering refugees to take the consequences is utterly unforgivable. Then there is Israel. What are they expected to do? No community can withstand a constant bombardment of rockets however sophisticated the defence mechanisms. They do have a right to defend themselves and finding such a vast network of tunnels dug very deep and strongly constructed must have been a shock and terrifying. Why do we expect so much more to them, is it because we are instinctively racist and anti semitic? However I do feel very strongly that they brought some of this onto their own heads with the attitude towards Palestinian lands. To just annex them and then to build new towns and housing is also unforgivable. Why do we take sides? These people will never stop fighting and it will only end when one side is annihilated which is probably never. Hamas come from the Shi its and we don't have sympathy with them in Iraq or Syria and now we have ISIS who are Sunni and will probably end up destroying the whole of the middle east as we know it today. Why are we not shouting about the dispossession of all the ancient Christians who are being ousted or killed unless they convert to being Sunni muslim - any other will not do. We created this unholy mess many years ago and now we cannot stop what is happening. The cradle of civilisation has gone back to the dark ages and they must be left to sort it out themselves without our meddling. |
