As I understand it, the rule about no amplified sound did not form part of the Ombudsman's judgement. According to Cllr Adrian Lee* [with my emphasis] the Local Government Ombudsman produced a detailed report upholding a complaint of the one of the residents of Arlington Park Mansions and suggesting that the Council adopt a policy of limiting the scale and monitoring the noise emissions from subsequent events. I, along with my colleagues, pledged at that time that we would support the concerns of our local residents and a new policy was formally adopted on 29th October 2001 at the Chiswick Area Committee Meeting, which was held in public." So it seems to me that the policy of no amplified sound was not imposed by the Ombudsman, but was democratically and formally agreed by the council in accordance with the Ombudsman's suggestion. If that decision is now working against the community's interest, is it not up to our councillors to consider whether it should be revised? * contained in this forum post. |
