In 2010, following the advice on the money saving expert website we succeeded in getting our house reduced from Band F to Band D by the Valuation Office. They didn't even visit, just did a drive-by assessment. It helped that all the other houses in our small terrace were Band D. Based on the VO assessment, Ealing Council refunded the overpayment without question, dating back to 2000 when we moved in. About £3.5k in total which was a nice surprise. Nothing like that usually works out that way for us in our dealings with officialdom. |
